ABOUT THE CURSED

The North Carolina Curse is a minor league football team representing the Raleigh- Durham area.

The North Carolina Curse was the vision of two men who were looking to compete in a family pastime, and bring a championship back to the 919 (as there hasn't been a trophy won in over 2 decades) While attempting to coach other organizations the duo put visions on hold, but in August of 2021 they made the decision to get the ball rolling.

CO-FOUNDER, CO- OWNER & HC/OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Sam
Rivers

My name is Sam Rivers and I began playing the game of football at 6 years old. It’s always been a part of my life and something special that keeps me sane in times where life seems to halt you. I began playing semi pro football in 2013 with the Capital City Cowboys organization in Raleigh NC and after they folded, myself and De’Eric O’Neal started the North Carolina Seminoles organization in 2015. I played and co owned and over the next couple seasons but unfortunately we had to shut down operations during our 2nd season. From 2017-2020 I was a part of the Carolina Dragons organization first as a player and then a coach. Needless to say I’ve seen and been thru a lot of football. My goal is to continue to use my lessons to coach and uplift those who love this game of football the same way that I do. #EmbraceTheCurse

Tiara Baines

My name is Tiara Baines. I have always had a special place in my heart for the game of football. My love for sport began early in my middle school days when I first got into athletics. I had to be a part of somehow so I began cheering for my Middle and High School back in Wilson, NC. Years later I found a Semipro team there (Wilson Ruff Ryders) and began to learn the ins and outs of Semi pro. I learned even more with the Carolina Dragons when I moved to Raleigh. When asked to be a part of the North Carolina Curse organization, I was very elated and eager to bring my ideas to the team. I’m very excited to watch this organization grow, and with the all the knowledge of my other colleges, we are destined for greatness!!
